Those are 3 of the 5 pet rats I have lost this year. Elixir, Jupiter, and Noodlez. I lost Elixir in June, Noodlez the 1st of December, and today (the day after Christmas) I found Jupiter cold and stiff in her cage. She had a uterine tumor and it must have just been her time to go. I lost two boys this year as well. Icarus in July, he had cancer, and Charlie on the 11th of December due to a tumor on his tail that broke open. 4 out of 5 of my babies that have passed this year I have had to put to sleep and then Jupiter died naturally. I didnt get to say goodbye to her. Her and Elixir were sisters so at least they are together again. Im sad because I wont be able to bury her til Spring because the earth is too cold and frozen now. :(
I miss them all so much. I have 3 rats left. Yuri, Mouse (daughter of Icarus and Yuri), and Flea. Mouse is my youngest, she is 8 months old. Yuri has two mammary tumors now so I dont know how much longer she will live. Flea is very overweight but not in poor health. He seems to be doing very well. I might look into getting another male for Flea to have some company and also to mate Mouse with so that I can have some more rats to love and spoil.

ReplyDelete[Grrrr! I just posted this long comment and they lost it on me....Let's hope I can remember most if not all of it.] I am so sorry Michelle for your losses this year. They say rats don't last long due to the high risk of tumors but I know that doesn't make it any easier to take it all in. They all know that you love(d) them very much and you were a great mom to them and are to those who are still with us. The ones that passed passed away with a smile on their face and love in their heart for they knew how you felt towards them. As for mating Mouse let's just hope she's not male aggressive as well lol.
