I have recently adopted a short tail opossum. I named him Kilo. Kilo, before me had two previous guardians. I don't think he was fed the right diet or handled much at all.
He is VERY skittish.
Kilo is a year old, so I am not sure that even if I work with him enough he will be able to be handled.
I have started giving him food for the diet he is suppose to be on. Kilo is suppose to be on a high protein diet with little to none fat. He can have cat food all day long. Along with that he gets the following in little servings, fruit baby foods, fresh fruit, hard boiled eggs, cooked ground turkey, meal worms, crickets, and tuna fish. He doesn't seem to like vegetable baby foods.
I am still reading a few forums on the web about how to care for him, and so far he seems to be a happy boy. Much happier then when I first got him.
I will update more about Kilo soon.
